Leon Jobs Increase in February, Unemployment Rate Down to 3.2%

The latest employment information shows that Leon County gained 932 jobs in February, 2019. One year ago Leon County added 2,418 jobs. This month’s gain follows a loss 2,192 jobs in January.

The unemployment rate decreased from 3.8% in January to 3.2% in February.

The number of people working in February 2019 has increased when compared to last year. The Leon County Jobs Report, listed below, indicates that 151,926 were working in February, 2019. This is 2,763 more than the 149,163 reported working in February last year.

Also, the labor force expanded when compared to one year ago. In February, 2019 the workforce was 156,901 compared to 154,561 last year.

At the state-level, 97,000 jobs were gained in February and the unemployment rate decreased to 3.9% from 3.4% in February.

The chart below shows that monthly level of jobs in Leon County over the last three years with 12-month average trend line. As the chart shows, the current monthly trends are consistent with the movement in jobs over the last two years.
